A shop owner welcomes a new delivery rider and hands him a helmet

Your riders are the face of your shop. Adding one takes about a minute. The rider gets an email with everything needed to sign in, so you do not have to set up their phone.

Before you start#

  • You are signed in to the outlet portal.

  • You have the rider’s name, mobile number and their own email address. The email becomes their sign-in.

  • The rider has an Android phone. (The rider app runs on Android today.)

  1. Step 1: Open Delivery Executives

Choose Delivery Executives in the left menu. The page lists your riders under Outlet Riders, with a green Active tag for each one who can work.

Delivery Executives page with the list of outlet riders, each with an Active tag and the buttons View, Edit and Remove
  2. Step 2: Press Add Rider

Press the green Add Rider button at the top right of the list. A box called Add Delivery Executive opens.

  3. Step 3: Fill in the rider’s details

Fill in Email, Full Name and Phone / WhatsApp. Under Max orders per trip, keep 5 or type how many orders this rider can carry at once.

The Add Delivery Executive box with Email, Full Name, Phone / WhatsApp and Max orders per trip filled in

If the email already belongs to a MiniDrop rider, the box says Existing rider found and fills in the name and phone. The button then reads Link Rider. The rider keeps their own password.

  4. Step 4: Save the rider

Press Add Rider. The new rider appears in the list. MiniDrop emails them a temporary password and, when it is available, a button to get the app. If there is no button, the email tells them to ask you for the app link.

  5. Step 5: Help them sign in

Ask the rider to install the app and sign in. Our guide for riders is short: Install the MiniDrop rider app and sign in.

  6. Step 6: Check that they are online

Press View next to the rider’s name. The badge next to the name says Online when the rider has switched on Status in the app. A rider who is Offline does not get trips. More in See where your riders are and who is free.

First-day checklist#

  • The rider received the email (ask them to look in spam too).

  • The app is installed and the rider has set their own password.

  • Location is allowed as Allow all the time, and notifications are on.

  • Status is switched to Online.

  • A practice trip: create an order for your own address, dispatch it, approve the route and let the rider deliver it.

  • Your shop rules are explained: how to hand over orders, how to speak to customers, when to call you.

Change or remove a rider#

Press Edit to change a rider’s name, phone or Max orders per trip. The email cannot be changed. Press Remove to take a rider off your outlet. The portal asks you to confirm and tells you whether the rider’s account is kept or deleted.

What if the rider did not get the email?

Check that the email address is correct and ask the rider to look in the spam folder. The rider can also use Forgot password? on the sign-in screen of the app.

What does Max orders per trip do?

It is the most orders MiniDrop will give this rider at one time when it plans trips. You can change it later with Edit.

Can a rider work for two shops?

Yes. A rider can be linked to several outlets, but takes orders from one outlet at a time.

Does the rider need a smartphone?

Yes, an Android phone with internet, to open trips, call customers and mark orders delivered.
