Route optimisation

Route optimisation software for local deliveries

Deliver more orders with fewer kilometres.

Route optimisation is the heart of MiniDrop. Instead of sending one rider per order, MiniDrop looks at every order waiting to go out and every rider who is available, then builds the best set of multi-drop trips: one trip per rider, with the stops in the right order.

Routes follow real roads, not straight lines on a map.

What route optimisation gives you

  • Multi-drop trips

Nearby orders are grouped into one trip, and the drops are ordered so the rider covers them in the shortest round.

  • Several riders at once

One run plans routes for all your available riders together and splits the orders between them, so no rider is overloaded while another waits.

  • Rider capacity

Each rider has a limit on how many orders they carry. The plan never goes over it.

  • Delivery windows

Give an urgent order a window in minutes and the plan delivers it within that time of the trip starting.

  • Automatic dispatch

Dispatch by hand, every few minutes, or at fixed times of day. MiniDrop runs the plan on schedule and asks you to approve it.

  • You stay in control

Review every route before riders are notified: reorder the drops or take a rider's orders back into the queue, then approve.

How it works

  1. 1

    Orders wait in the queue

Create orders in the outlet portal or through the API. Orders for your own riders wait to be dispatched together.

  2. 2

    MiniDrop plans the trips

Dispatch now or let the schedule run: MiniDrop splits the orders across your riders and orders each rider's stops.

  3. 3

    You approve

Check each rider's route on the map, make changes if you want, and approve.

  4. 4

    Riders deliver

Riders get the trip in the rider app with the stops in order; customers get a tracking link.

Frequently asked questions

What is route optimisation in delivery?

It is planning which rider delivers which orders, and in what order, so all deliveries are completed with the least travel. MiniDrop does this automatically for all your waiting orders and riders at once.

Does MiniDrop use real road distances?

Yes. Routes are planned on real roads, not on straight-line distance.

Can I change a route MiniDrop suggests?

Yes. Before you approve, you can reorder a rider's drops or release a rider's orders back to the queue.

Can dispatch run on its own?

Yes. Choose a fixed interval or fixed times of day. Each run plans the routes and sends them to you for approval.
